In Chile, ready for the most beautiful race in the world!

For those of you who've followed my shenanigans thus far, you are probably well aware of the significance of 70.3 IM Pucon: It was my brother's favorite race in the whole wide world, and I would always come cheer for him when I was in high school. We vowed to do the race together one day... and then he tragically passed away while in China. A big part of my heart died that day... or so I thought.
I had sunk to the lowest place in my life- It's hard to explain, but in a very different way than my husband Paul is, Benji was a soulmate and a confidant, best friends and worst critic. We had an internal language and ability to read each others' mind in a way that only siblings can understand. I lost all it when he died.
Sobbing at his funeral (held here in Chile), I decided that one of of the ways I would honor his memory would be to train and come race in Pucon. He was an avid triathlete and we always hoped to compete together one day. Fast forward four years and I am in Chile,  and while Benji might not be here in person, I know he will be there with me every step of the way.
I'm so thrilled that I have the ability and resources to come here to race. It is really a dream come true.
The course will be a beautiful swim with an active volcano in the backdrop- if I'm not mistaken, the Villarica actually erupted last year. The bike won't be particularly hilly, but it can be deceivingly windy. The run on the other hand, will have MANY hills!
I'll make sure to post pictures pre- and post race!
