Nadie apalea a un perro muerto

So the direct translation sounds quite morbid in english, but the point is the metaphore behind the words:

No one will continue to beat a dead dog...

That was my mother's quote for the day.
Very true words if put in to the appropriate context.
We were talking about how to react when someone just can't let go of some grudge against you. If the problem isn't resolved on the grudge holder's end, he/she'll keep trying to bring you down, until he/she feels appropriately compensated.
So in my case, I trully believe I resolved my issues with Grudgy, but I guess the score hasn't been settled on Grudgy's court, so Grudgy continues to behave in a resentful manner that you wouldn't even expect from a twelve year old. In the terms of my mother's quote: the cause of Grudgy's issues hasn't been beat up dead yet.

Sad part is I'm over it and would have liked to mend ties. Oh well, I guess you can't be friends with everyone.

Full tummy...

Just ate a bison burger with sweet potato fries, beer and ice cream. Didn't really deserve it after eating 1/4 of a nutella jar with peanut butter.... but heck- what ya gonna do? A girl needs to be kept happy... for me, it's all about food.
I was quite impressed with myself today. I took upon myself the task to fix the fence that was damaged earlier this year by the wind storm. Contractors said it would cost over $2000 to get it done... yet after muscling my way thru Lowe's, getting the fence panels, renting a HUGE truck to haul all the stuff I bought... my grand total came to about $240 (including the truck rental). Kind of a good deal.

Anyway, my cycling is still going very well. Am feeling stronger than I have in a few years, but I know I'm nowhere near my full potential. I'm very excited to be training with Coach B; he's the man! He's taken more people and teams to nationals than anyone I've ever heard about- and so far, I feel like he's got me on a pretty strong training plan.... and all for free!! He's a super nice guy. Maybe by the end of summer? I really hope I can be in top notch shape for Super Week in July.

Ummm Yeah...

It's been a while since my last posting. I guess I'll give it another good ol' college try and see if I can stick to this one more time.
SO I've found myself riding my bike again. This time around, I'm actually training and doing everything Coach B tells me to. I'm really enjoying it, not just because I'm getting it right, but I've also got a really cool group of people to train with and call teammates. We (a BUNCH of US)started a new team called Rogue Racing Project- we decided on Project rather than Team cause that word seems to be a little jaded. It's kind of a no strings attached, fun crowd of athletes (from all sports), getting together for fun, along with moral and drinking support.
Back to being motivated... I even have a power tap. Not sure how, but apparently this little tool is supposed to make me faster and stronger than ever before. I guess after 8 years of riding, I may as well try and learn how to do things the right way.
My season is off to a good start, I rode a hilly, windy, storming 20k TT two Sunday's ago and placed 2nd out of two women... and note that the winner Tracy Tolson beat my by exactly 2 minutes. She's an excellent rider and has been around the block a time or two, so I actually felt pretty good about *only* being 2 minutes behind her.
Last weekend was just unbelieveable. I finished 3rd in a local Women's 1-2-3 race, my highlight being that for some odd reason I outsprinted Tracy at the end. I'm considering retiring from cycling now while I'm on top.
Granted she had a very bad day (two flats- one before the race and another during the race), it's still very encouraging to (for once) have been ahead of her rather than 5 miles behind her. The left side picture is me in absolute disbelief after crossing the finish line... Marcia took some awesome pics that day!
It gives me hope that I'll be able to Cat up for Super Week in Wisconsin.

Ok, back to work, learn Chinese and take my TEFL courses.
